Water Jet Cutting Sheet Metal


Did you know there is another way to cut precision sheet metal? Believe it or not it is through the use of water jet cutting. A jet of water slices through the sheet metal by using water at a high velocity and pressure. Sometimes there is an abrasive substance mixed with the water to accomplish cutting through the sheetmetal.

If you were working at home with a piece of precision sheet metal, you would probably cut it with a set of tin snips. This would definitely not be productive in the manufacturing world. The manufacturing companies have turned to computers to attain more precise cutting of sheet metal. Many of these computers utilize lasers to cut the metal. Lasers use a beam of light to cut the sheet metal into the required shape.
